Follow us while we transform a valley into a natural farming hub where youngsters can learn, create and experience.

#13 We Built Our Own Interior Walls!
This first phase of rebuilding has been the hardest so far.
We had to adapt physically, face the freezing winter, and learn many new skills from scratch.
It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge taught us something new. Slowly, we are becoming more confident, and the house is changing along with us.
This experience has shown us that we are capable of much more than we imagined when we are willing to learn, adapt, and keep going.

#12 Where did the house go?
We asked the builders to let us know when they were coming.
Well... they didn't.
And before we knew it...
the house looked like this:
WAIT... WHAAAAAT?! 😂

#11 We finally started rebuilding our dream
After waiting almost a year to get everything in order, we finally started the renovation!
We opened up the old house by removing walls and even a ceiling, revealing the natural materials and craftsmanship that were hidden inside this amazing structure.
Every discovery tells a story and reminds us how much knowledge was built into these old houses.
Once again, we're doing things we've never done before, learning as we go, and preparing our muscles for everything that is still to come.

#10 Summer update
We finally managed to finish last summer’s update video!
It was a season full of harvesting and processing fresh food straight from the garden — drying fruits and veggies, making juices to enjoy all year round, cooking up lots of marmalades, and even trying a little fermentation experiment.
All that while selling our house, moving into a temporary place, and preparing for the renovation of the new house.

#9 Hail and hope
In this episode, we had to get creative to irrigate the young trees using the existing water canals — with some unexpected challenges along the way.
We also welcomed a few lovely visitors — one of whom brought a surprising gift: a solar-powered tool to cook with the heat of the sun! ☀️
And just when we thought we had the rhythm down…
The skies opened up with heavy rains — and even hail — leaving a bigger mark than we expected.
Curious? Watch the episode and see how nature, surprises, and small wins shape the journey of FreeHive.

#8 Water on the land!
Getting water on the land was quite a birth! That's why we celebrated eating together with all the neighbours and the guests that were helping us clean the water canals. Meanwhile, in the garden, the green manure was growing faster than the potatoes! And water in the canals is one thing, but how do we get it to the new trees we planted? At least they got some mulch volcanos...

#7 Water canals and veggies
In this episode we got help from afar! Matthias his sister came and helped us cleaning the water canals and planting in the natural farming garden. She even composed a beautiful song for this episode: Simple Joy, which is available by donation on the Give & Buy platform: https://giveandbuy.com/products/song-...

#6 Oh no, acute lumbago!
While cleaning the water canals, well… Evi got an acute lumbago. Ouch!
Luckily we had been working in the garden to cut the green manure, prepare the first garden beds, and plant potatoes.
A snake and a Dudu joined as well…

#5 Sowing green manure seeds
After six weeks of rain, the tractor finally arrived to open up the land. Well... that's what we thought it would do. Another lesson in boundaries and communication.
Time to sow, plant some more trees and connect more deeply with this amazing land.

#4 Exploring the land
The past two weeks we have been exploring the new land. Great views from above and promising swimming spots for the summer!
We have planted the first trees and flower bulbs! YAY!

#3 The garden
In our third episode we got to work on things in the garden. For the first time in our lives we chopped down a dead tree, freed the huge vine that was entangled in the tree to save it and much more. “Let’s get to work!” 😉

#2 Cleaning the garage
In our second episode we clean out the filthy garage and prepare for the architect to come. We discovered how to recycle a couch. Oh and the prison bars in front of the windows disappeared. Enjoy! 😉

#1 Cleaning the house
In our first episode, we kick off with cleaning the old house that is on the property. It was abandoned 35 years ago and everything was still in it! We found huge layers of dust, mixed with poo, broken objects, seeds, moldy mattresses, plastic, an incredible amount of clothes, books, food, and… Well… what not?
